Lori Amor
My name is Lori Amor (If you hadn't gathered that from the name of the website). I was born and lived most of my life in Texas but now live in Nottingham, England. I tend to be, on most days, an artist. Other days I just pretend to be.
Artist Statement.
My work is all about the communication, manipulation and archivability of information. Recently, my work has involved the use of various types of boxes. Other issues that arise from what is contained within the boxes or even from the boxes themselves are incidental, yet it is through these incidental issues that the purpose of the work is fully achieved. The projects usually take the form of installations, involving elements of craft and performance. The installations are strongly driven by concept but the process of using appropriate materials to bring physical form to those concepts is a very important factor in their creation.
Influences.
My influences are many as, it seems, I am influenced by everything. Some of my influences are Frida Kahlo, David Lynch, Dave McKean, Chris Cunningham, Spanish and Italian Baroque art, all sorts of films, and T.V. Lots of T.V. I also find myself, on occassion, to be quite heavily influenced by science, technology, philosophy, psychology and strangely enough, my own emotions. (See! Everything!)
